A follow up to their 2022 EP Vermillion, Sarasate sees producer Isn't Ours returning to form, invoking alien acid bass, haunted kicks, and experimental affectations into two original tracks, with remixes courtesy of kshack labelmates 504 Aquatic and dr. buttons. Named after Spanish composer Pablo de Sarasate, a composer who literally bridged the gap between printed sheet music with early sound recording by capturing his own legendary violin performances on the gramophone in 1904 shortly before his death, Sarasate left behind a rare audio artifact of 19th-century mastery. One such recording went on to be used as music in Seijun Suzuki's 1980 psychological horror film, Zigeunerweisen. The film and the recording both feel deeply haunted: the inaudible mumbling buried in the original crackling of Sarasate's violin recording, steady streams of raining flower petals rushing through windows in the film, and, perhaps most aptly, the film's thesis statement; "Things are best when they begin to rot."

Recordings left dormant since 2017, tracks “Sarasate” and “Mono” both had ample time to “rot” before being brought back out of the shadows for a proper release with contemporary remixes for an added twist.

Indebted to the time of their creation, Sheffield cites the work of labels like Russian Torrent Versions, artists like Greg Beato and DJ Nobu, as well as the show space/Bed-Stuy basement where the tracks were first created, as major influences on the initial works but not without the serendipity of chance, collaboration, dead skin, dust.
